R.A.W Classics: Stan Hansen in ECW

Before the 'E' in ECW stood for 'Extreme' it was 'Eastern' and was an affiliate of the National Wrestling Alliance.

During it's early years, between 1992 - 1994, it was a regular spot for legends such as 'Superfly' Jimmy Snuka, Don Muraco, Tito Santana, Kevin Sullivan and Terry Funk.

Whilst Terry Funk managed to make the transition from 'Eastern' to 'Extreme' one name, from the 'Eastern' era, that could have also made the transition, just as easily, was Stan Hansen.

For those who don't know Stan Hansen was mostly known for his time in Japan as well as appearing in AWA (where he won the World title) and WCW (where he won the United States title).

Not to mention he also broke the neck of, WWE legend, Bruno Sammartino in 1976!!!

Hansen appeared for ECW on only four occasions, in 1993, but his smash mouth, and wild, style made the Philadelphia promotion the perfect home for him.

Had Stan Hansen remained in ECW we truly believe that he'd be mentioned in the same breath as Terry Funk's contributions, to the company, and the direction it eventually went in, after August 1994, as he was showing signs of the 'Extreme' style in 1993.

What made Hansen fit so well was the fact he would get in the ring and kick the shit out of who ever was in his way!!!

Think Sid's run, in 1999, but harder!!!

We've decided to take a look back at Hansen's short run in ECW to justify our above point that had Hansen stayed he would have been a great asset to the company for the years to come.
