Chucky Edwards Presents Chucky's Report #3 - Bean Lebouc!!!
What's good everybody and welcome back to the latest edition of 'Chucky's Report'!!!
This time around I'm featuring a legend of the Jersey, Channel Islands, Hip-Hop scene Bean Lebouc (formally known as B-Eazy).
Whether he's spitting fire verses or producing masterpieces with his instrumentals he will always deliver with top notch artistry.
I have been a fan of his for over a decade now watching his journey from an artist to a producer to a blogger and so much more. I've also been lucky enough to call him a friend.
He has given me loads of opportunities to work alongside him (especially here on R.A.W Media) and helped me get out of some of my darkest moments in life.
I know we will continue working together, as we march forward, and hopefully one day we will have the opportunity to work on some music together.
A little known fact is that after B-Eazy laid down the mic, after his final project 'FLOWERS' in 2021, I included a bouquet of flowers saying 'Love and Respect', on the artwork, for that year's 'Best Of' compilation I used to put together.
Speaking of 'FLOWERS' even after almost 4 years its still an album I go back and listen to and i have to say it has stood the test of time. It's a classic album for sure. I remember when it first came out I was a little sad as it was the end of his journey as a rapper.
However after seeing what he has done since leaving the microphone behind I'm super proud of his accomplishments and I'm glad I got to follow along with his journey.
Unfortunately 'FLOWERS' is currently unavailable online however, DJ/Producer, Dirty Needlz did do a remix version of it which you can check out here - Dirty Needlz Presents G.M B-Eazy 'RE-ARRANGEDFLOWERS'
Now for my personal favourite segment, of this series, where I will be conducting an interview with Bean Lebouc to delve further into the world of an artist.
Chucky Edwards - What first got you Into music and what inspires you to continue after all these years?
Bean Lebouc - Just how unique it was to anything else I'd ever been into. My dad listened to a lot of classic Rock and, at the time, I just couldn't connect with it but when I first heard Eminem and Proof (R.I.P) on Westwood, in late '99, I fell in love with it immediately!!! The lyricism, the beats and overall chaos of that particular show got me hooked straight away. I was an avid listener after that and convinced my friend to start a rap duo, called 'The Blackjack Brothers', and start recording homemade mixtapes. 25 years later and I'm still kicking about.
I stay involved because I enjoy the energy, and creativity, it provides. Whether it's with my own work, or others, music will always be an outlet that keeps me motivated.
CE - You've worked with some amazing artists, over the years, which one would you say was your personal favourite.
BL - I'd say, rappers wise, Mister Boxer, Gustavo Louis, M-Acculate, J-Fab, Verse1, Jimi, Dr. Strangelove, FONZi and Lloyd Luther have been my favourites and producers SoulRight and, without a shadow of a doubt, Dirty Needlz and Eirenicon.
CE - If you could collaborate with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
BL - DOOM and Dilla. Two creative geniuses that influenced me so much and two legends that left us too soon. Also Westside Gunn as he's just so ahead of the game it's insane!!!
CE - What would you say has been some of your favourite moments through your journey of Hip Hop?
BL - Honestly there's too many to mention here. I've performed on so many stages, been in so many booths and worked with so many incredible artists it would be difficult to pin point any specific moments that stand out.
CE - Bit of a random question but what’s on your personal playlist right now? Who should we be listening to in your opinion?
BL - Definitely artists like Westside Gunn, Mach-Hommy, Boldy James and others but, to be honest, I mostly listening to a lot of instrumental projects nowadays. I'm at a stage, in life, where I'm after more of a vibe than trying to hear bars. I also, funnily enough, listen to a fair bit of classic Rock now (despite not enjoying it as a teen). Over time I've grown to understand, and appreciate, all types of music especially since I moved into production.
CE - Since you have over 25 years in the game what advice would you give to up-and-coming rappers trying to chase their dreams?
BL - At the start be as consistent as possible but also realise that eventually there's a time when you need to slow down, try different things and utilise your creativity in other areas you might be interested in.
CE - For my last question, I have to ask, do you have any musical plans going forward and is there any chance you would pick up the mic for one last verse?
BL - I've got some new instrumental projects coming up with UnXpectedBeatz, alongside Dirty Needlz and Eirenicon, on DeckHead Records however I have no desire to pick up the mic, full time, again. I have nothing but love, and respect, for all rappers and will drop the occasional verse but only when I feel like it. But no, full length, vocal projects from me I'm afraid. I left that behind in 2021 with 'FLOWERS'.
I want to say thank you to Bean Lebouc for taking time to answer all my questions.
It's greatly appreciated.
So to conclude I will leave you with my favourite beat from him - Bean Lebouc - '97 Hitman
Thank you for taking your time to read the latest edition of 'Chucky's Report', on R.A.W Media, and be sure to show Bean Lebouc some love.
Until next time keep on showing love to all the incredible artists out there and stay blessed.
