Information is provided daily via the internet which helps assist me with my writing but back in the 90’s, and early 00’s, before the internet made it so easy to obtain information on my favourite things was a lot different. Every month I would visit agents such as King Street News or Machon’s Newsagents (pictured above as a part of the Red Houses Shopping Parade) to grab the latest issues of magazines like Pro Wrestling Illustrated, Power Slam, The Source and Hip-Hop Connection in order to find out more about the things I loved. Originally published, April 11th 2018, on Bout Dat Online. Today I’m stepping out of my usual position as blogger for the ‘Audio Dope’ section to post my first ‘On The Line’ piece! The subject of this post is one that hits close to home for me and brings together two huge parts of my life: Hip-Hop and Mental Health! Hip-Hop’s relationship with mental health is an interesting one to me and as someone who has invested over half his life to the Hip-Hop culture, as an artist, MC, DJ, promoter, blogger and fan, and has suffered from mental health issues, personally and with family and friends, for about the same length of time so the subject is very personal to me. TV, PPV and live attendance were through the roof and the product was phenomenal! The ‘Attitude Era’ was in full effect!!! However, in the same year, the company had two of it’s most tragic accidents. The death of Owen Hart at their ‘Over The Edge’ pay-per-view, on May 23rd, and Darren ‘Droz’ Drozdov’s injury at a ‘Smackdown’ TV taping, against D-Lo Brown, that left him paralysed, on October 5th!!! R.A.W Media's Bean Lebouc (a.k.a G.M B-Eazy) recently caught up with Amanda Mack, the daughter of the late Craig Mack, to discuss what he was like away from the studio, her brother, Asah Mack, and the legacy of her father’s music!!!
