Exit Sandman: Pro Wrestling's Most Entertaining Retirement Match!!!
Pro Wrestling is choreographed and is designed to create moments for fans through story telling. There truly is no art form like it. Whether it's a match that makes you appreciate the athletic, sports like, aspect of it or something that's just outrageously entertaing it's all about providing you with a moment and, when it's all over, it will have you talking about it days, months or even years after it's happened.
The 'Hardcore Icon', and ECW legend, The Sandman decided for his farewell to go down the outrageous route in the form of a match against The Invisible Man at Joey Janela's 'Spring Break X' event, for Game Changer Wrestling, on April 17th.
For the more "Pro Wrestling is an athletic sport" fan this match was a slap in the face to the business however for the real fans, that appreciate EVERYTHING Pro Wrestling has to offer, this was absolute perfection.
This match was extremely over the top, chaotic, fun, engaging and entertaining. Basically this is exactly what to expect from a man going one on one with air for 20 minutes (with assistance from a number of guest run ins from the likes of Insane Clown Posse, Missy Hyatt, Kendra Lust, Bill Alfonzo and Mick Foley)!!!
This was also the perfect way for The Sandman to end his career as he's always been known as a cigarette smoking, beer drinking, cane swinging bad ass (which of course he still is) however, in more recent years, his podcast appearances have shown a more lighter, and comical, side to Sandman (something most in the business already knew anyway) so having him going head to head with an invisible man, in a crazy match, makes so much sense.
After nearly 40 years of kicking ass, in promotions like ECW, WWE, WCW, TNA and more, The Sandman went out in a legendary fashion (and even did the job for The Invisible Man as well).
From the R.A.W Media team we wish The Sandman a happy retirement and a big thanks for the years of countless moments!!!
ENTER SANDMAN...EXIT SANDMAN!!!
